Solarisation, Roel Crabbé, 2006
100 x 140 cm – Acrylic on canvas
Joan Halifax describes in her book “Shaman – Wounded Healer” the process of Solarisation:
“The nimbus or halo that radiates from the heads of these shamans and spirits is a visual expression of intellectual energy in its mystical aspect, or of supernatural power. The sun is in itself a symbol of the heroic principle of the all-seeing and all- knowing, and the inner life fire The activation of this “inner sun” is called “solarisation.” It represents the highest manifestation of totality. ”
This description remained with me and during moments of inner contemplation I began to see more and more images of this work. During a whole period these bright star patterns came into my inner experience and dreams. As clusters, filled with a vibrant life force and awareness.
I painted this work uninterruptedly for a week and followed what was revealed to me. First I saw the red-black background, later the big star and the little star.
This work often has a strong impact on people. There are people who are full of it, but also people who experience its power as very penetrating.
“Solarisation” was given a central place in our living room. It is a work that I look at every day, as a bright light that indicates the path. It shows in a purified form the process of unification with the light of our true being.
